Privately?

It’s magical that I can send a message to someone on the other side of the world and get a reply in 5 minutes.

I appreciate the asynchronous nature of email. Just because I wrote to you doesn’t mean I expect a reply right away. Take your time.

I like that emails can have a rhythm. The pace doesn’t have to be breakneck. One message a month on Signal? A little strange. One email a quarter? Great!

Thanks to email, I can maintain friendships that would have long since faded away without this technology.

I know I don’t need permission to email someone, and I take advantage of that.

I once saved a nonprofit organization a lot of money with just a few emails.

I like that you can send a postcard via email.

Not-privately?

An introduction email is one of the nicest things you can find in your inbox.

We can talk about money on a call, but any binding agreements must be recorded in an email.

At the intersection?

I like that these days I can write to the authors of many of the books I read – whether about work or beyond.

Emails are a great way to stay in touch with people you’ve worked with.

Newsletters can be amazing.
